The Global Business Challenge is a global innovation competition for graduate students to create novel solutions to global problems. In 2019 the challenge is to develop solutions to improve trust and customer value in the delivery of financial sector services. Teams that make the finals will have a chance at winning AUD$125,000 in prize money plus Industry Prizes! Finalist teams are also provided with travel subsidies and paid accommodation.
The 2019 challenge is ‘Fintech’ and teams addressing the challenge are to develop solutions to improve trust and customer value in the delivery of financial sector services.
Teams will face off over two rounds:
Round 1 is a virtual round – open to teams of postgraduate students from both business and technical disciplines. Teams submit a 3-minute virtual pitch and a 5-page Executive Summary of the “Concept Solution”. Selected Round 1 teams will be placed into 7 pools and the winner of each will progress to the finals in Brisbane. In 2019 the 7th pool is dedicated to the China Chapter, exclusively for Chinese participating teams.
Round 2 (finals), comprises of an intensive weeklong competition round. The finals process involves:
A 48-hour lock-phase where teams need to develop a business case for a hypothetical application for their proposed solution.
Innovation Showcase, where teams and amongst researchers present solutions around the challenge theme to an audience.
Winners of the 2019 competition have the chance of winning AUD$125,000 in prize money plus Industry Prizes. Finalist teams are also eligible for travel subsidies of up to $12,500 per team and accommodation is provided
